Job is very light and straightforward:
Visual check of the vehicle (mostly looking at existing labels/compliance stickers)
Applying an importer compliance label if needed
Taking a few photos
Signing off on the inspection/documentation
No heavy work, no repairs, no tools beyond basic eyesight, a phone/camera, and your experience. Perfect flexible daytime side gig for an experienced "old pro" mechanic wanting easy part time work.
We are also seeking someone experienced in pulling and calibrating speedometers (mechanical and electronic) for imported vehicles. This includes km/h to mph conversions, accurate adjustments for gear ratio differences, tire size variations, and verification using GPS or dyno methods to ensure precise and legal readings."
Requirements:
Valid mechanic certification (ASE, NY State Motor Vehicle Inspector certification, or equivalent recognized credentials)
Reliable transportation to meet at vehicle locations around Niagara Falls, NY (border area convenient)
Basic smartphone for photos
Hours: Part-time, flexible daylight hours — we coordinate jobs around your availability.
Compensation: Negotiable / competitive — paid per inspection or as agreed, great rate for minimal effort.
