One definite advantage I discovered while testing this saw: Cutting overhead with a normal saw can be dangerous because the saw will fall after it cuts through the branch and the branch is no longer supporting it. so you end up straining to hold the saw up while trying to avoid letting the branch hit you. This saw solves that problem because the jaw stays resting on the tree after the branch falls helping you keep your balance, then after the chain has stopped and the branch is clear you can get a firm stance and lower the saw...much safer. It is also great for those with back problems or don't have the upper body strength to hold a saw in the air
