FISHER PRICE #997 – PLAY FAMILY VILLAGE (1973-76). MADE IN U.S.A. Original owner. Very clean and odorless from a smoke-free and pet-free home.
FP’s “biggest play center ever built for the Little People” with the most accessories of any Little People set. The Village itself is a bulky base of two halves that can be connected with the pedestrian bridge. A traffic light hanging below it can be rotated with a knob to change the traffic signal colors. The Village’s two bases contain a Fire House with a crank on its roof to activate the siren and an area for the fireman’s cot under the adjacent stairwell; an attached light post; an attached fire hydrant; a Post Office with a molded-in loading ramp and outdoor working mailbox; a Theater with a molded-in ticket window, attached stage and seating for 4; a rooftop Restaurant with indoor and outside seating areas; a 2nd floor Apartment and Dental Office; a Police Station with an interior jail that has a molded-in bunk and a working jail door; a Barber Shop; a Garage with a crank on its exterior wall to activate the car lift for Auto Repairs; and a Patio area and a separate BBQ area on its second level; a molded-in Gas Station pump with a hose that fits all vehicles; a set of stairs on each base half to access the 2nd levels; and ground-level doors that open and close and have slots for mail delivery. ACCESSORIES: a Phone Booth with a door that slides to open and close; 5 Mail Pieces (#3 Theater piece is missing) for the businesses on the first level -- letters fit in the door slots as well as in the back of the mail truck. FURNITURE: a barber chair that swivels; a dentist chair that swivels; a yellow cot for the Fire House; a round umbrella-topped table for patio area; 4 single-seat captain chairs; a round BBQ grill (grill has one leg broken off—I’ve glued a cork on the bottom as a base—see photo); a 2-seat sofa for the apartment; and a rectangle coffee table for the apartment. VEHICLES: single-seat Police Car; a two-seat Fire Truck with a working extension ladder that swivels; a Mail Delivery Truck that accommodates the mail pieces in the backside; a 2-seat car; and a single-seat car. NINE LITTLE PEOPLE: a Mailman, a Dentist, a Barber, a Fireman, a Policewoman, a Mom, a Boy, a Girl, and a Dog. Like-new lithographs -- none worn, loose, or peeling.
All pieces store neatly inside base, which has a locking carry handle. Recommended for ages 2-8. Overall size is 17-3/4” wide x 6-1/4” deep x 8-3/8” tall.
