This was a critical period in Springsteen's career and private life. It was during this tour that speculation was confirmed of the disintegration of his marriage to Julianne Phillips, and provided clear evidence of Springsteen's deepening relationship with backing vocalist Patti Scialfa. After this tour concluded, Springsteen wouldn't play any full-length shows with the E Street Band for the next eleven years.
