Meissen porcelain bulbous oval tureen (bowl with cover) with two cast and applied foliate handles and a separate domed oval cover with a raised twisted foliate knop in the Blue Onion pattern with the following measurements. The bulbous oval tureen without cover
measures approximately 13 x 9 inches long by 8 inches by 8 inches wide in diameter by 4 7/8 inches deep. The oval lid with a raised twisted foliate knop measures approximately 10 1/8 inches long x 8 inches wide x 4 inches high. The tureen is marked on the back with an under glaze blue cobalt Meissen crossed swords mark. There may be impressed marks present but these were not noted by the
appraiser. There is a blue cobalt decorators mark present. The quality of the design is distinct. There is a small iron oxide spot to the interior of the bowl. There is a medium chip to the rim of the lid that breaks the outline of the piece. The overall condition of the serving bowl is a fair. The estimated secondary market retail replacement value is approximately $900.00.
