In our Site-Based Mentoring Program volunteers meet with their Little at a local school or community center for a few hours, after school, one day a week. This is a chance to build and share a friendship in a structured setting. Matches spend time on homework, make crafts, play games, share hobbies or simply talk about their day.
We are excited to get you on your way to becoming a mentor. We, Buffalo ReUse want a hub at our store! So we're looking for an artist that will come out and make a site specific bike parking area at 298 Northampton
Get creative! Google some bike racks for inspiration.
Justin says he has a garage FULL of broken bikes that someone(s) could use to make racks--but you can use any other found materials as long as the racks are safe and the public can secure a bike to it.
Buffalo ReUse is a not-for-profit organization committed to developing the practice of a deconstruction, to serve as a vehicle for job creation, building materials reclamation, and community development.
We provide an alternative to the practice of demolition; salvage building materials from construction, renovation, and demolition projects; and provide a source of high quality building materials for sale to the public.
You do not have to have any skills; we'll train you.
If you do have carpentry, electrical or plumbing skills or you're Jack/Jackie of all trades; we'd love to meet you!
Tasks you might do while at the store:
sort spindles, knobs, windows, hinges
carpentry or plumbing jobs
dusting/cleaning inventory
building shelving units
removing nails from lumber/flooring
painting signs in the store
driving/picking up materials from donors (people call us when they're throwing out tubs and windows or counters or appliances)
moving inventory
creating displays
looking up and comparing prices
assisting customers with finding items or loading their car
sweeping
photograph inventory
post inventory to craigslist and materials exchange sites
and other tasks--but it's totally up to your time and interests
We're open Tues-Sat 7:30-5pm; please just show up ready to go and ask for Kevin, the store manager. The store is located at 298 Northampton between Main and Jefferson, just near Art Space and the Delta Sonic Car Wash. It's a big white brick building--you can't miss it!
To qualify for participation in this research study, you must:
• Be between the ages of 18 and 75 years old
• Have been diagnosed with plaque psoriasis
• Have been treated with Enbrel® (etanercept) for at least the past 4 months
• Currently have psoriatic lesions
If you qualify and choose to participate in this study, you will receive an initial consultation, study-related examinations, and study medication at no cost to you. Compensation for travel may also be provided.
Front Desk Receptionist - The Front Desk Receptionist will assist in the day-to-day operations of ACS at the Victorian House and the main ACS building on Elmwood. This opportunity is available from 9:30am-1:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm. This is a one day a week committment.
Congregate Dining Program - The Congregate Dining Program needs volunteers Monday through Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm to assist with setup, picking up lunch, serving of lunch (cafeteria style), socialization, and cleanup. You would work the same day(s) each week and we are looking for two people per shift.
Pantry Program - The Pantry Program needs volunteers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00am-2:00pm. There are two different opportunities. The Pantry Volunteer will stock the pantry shelves and make up pantry bags for our clients in need. A Pantry Bag Deliverer is also needed in Erie and Niagara Counties. You would work the same day(s) each week and we are looking for one person per day per opportunity.
The Grocery Box Program - The Grocery Box Program needs volunteers willing to complete grocery shopping and deliver the groceries to an ACS client once a month. The volunteer would prearrange a time with the client to go over their grocery list, complete the grocery shopping, and deliver the groceries. It is possible for the volunteer to have more than one client if they would like.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 64, fall asleep quickly, sleep for 7 to 8 hours and still wake up tired you may qualify to participate in a clinical research study to evaluate an investigational medication to see if it can help you wake up refreshed and ready to start your day.
