Holland BOE vote

For those who know its time to elect new members to the Board of Education in Holland. I have only recently (within the last 10 years) gotten into politics. i have learned of only a fraction of the filth involved with it. Here in Holland (as might be all around the country) students get the raw end of the deal with these elections. Demographically in Holland the majority have nothing to do with the school system other than pay there taxes for it. Students have no direct representation on the board so most of the members although "there for the kids", sounds like "vote for change", are voted in by people whos focus is not on the school system but the town interests. town interests usually means "dont raise our taxes!" even if it is for the childrens education. Well the students may get the raw deal again. Two ladies running for the board, popular in town, have for some time ignored student wishes quite vocally. Mrs Geer has been known to say of course the kids want football they want candy instead of veggies for dinner too. Mrs Strauss has gone to such lengths to stifle community requests on behalf of students for adding football that she has proposed recently and in the past the limiting or eliminating of public input at monthly public mtgs. these two women although poplular with the townsfolk by name should actually run for Holland Town Board rather than Holland School Board due to their pronounced interests in town affairs more than School affairs. Hopefully though parents in the district will stand up and use their vote to quell this possible regression and repression in representation.
