I've been in the field for 16 years, I don't have my license yet but I will within a month. Tune ups $39.99 on your AC-furnace unit which includes a condenser coil cleaning (acid cleaning extra). Tune ups on working units only, non working units with problems will be higher due to parts needed to bring the system back up to manufacturer specs. You change your car oil and maintain that regularly, why not maintain your heating and cooling system too?
Is your thermostat accurate? I can install a new digital type $39.00 service call + parts (depending on thermostat you want).
Manufacturers recommend that you have your system serviced 2x a year to keep it under warranty. Meaning if you haven't had your system serviced and it's still under warranty but you haven't had maintenance on it your warranty will and can be denied.
